Eddy's Guitar
Featured in MIM’s I Am AZ Music exhibition, Duane Eddy’s futuristic-looking double-neck “Howard” electric guitar was built in 1960 by Tom Howard McCormick of Howtronics in Phoenix, Arizona. McCormick was known for his innovative custom amplifiers; there are very few examples of his guitars, making this double-neck rare. With its rosewood fretboards, backwards-Explorer headstocks that predate Robin guitars by twenty years, high fidelity pickups, and long sustain, the instrument is a striking symbol from Eddy’s pioneering rock-and-roll career.
