It is fitting that in this centennial year, Women of Scottsdale honors Arizona arts pioneer Janie Ellis as its 2011 Woman of the Year. She was recognized at the Feb. 17 monthly luncheon at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. -
Valley Leadership 2012

The Nature Conservancy of Arizona, in partnership with the Desert Botanical Garden and Walton Family Foundation, hosted an action-packed, culturally rich gala at the Desert Botanical Garden. More than 200 supporters and partners viewed the exhibit and visited with designers Ezri Tarazi and Paulina Reyes during the event. -
Honor Ball 2012
Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation’s 36th Honor Ball lived up to its reputation as one of the Valley’s most elegant and exciting black tie events as more than 800 guests enjoyed dinner and dancing while raising funds to support the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare. -
JDRF Promise Ball 2012
On Saturday, January 21, more than 500 guests gathered at The Phoenician Resort to celebrate the 12th anniversary of The Promise Ball for the JDRF Desert Southwest Chapter. The evening's goal was to raise funds to help find a cure, treatment and prevention for type 1 diabetes. The event raised over $800,000. -
Drive the Dream Gala 2012
Childhelp was founded in 1959 by Sara O'Meara and Yvonne Fedderson. Their annual fundraiser, Drive the Dream Gala, was a huge success this year. Entertainment for the evening was Michael Bolton. -

The 17th Annual Faces of Success Luncheon benefitting AWEE was held at the Arizona Biltmore. For the past 30 years, AWEE has been changing lives through the dignity of work. Off the Vine 2011
Wine lovers enjoyed Hospice of the Valley’s 12th Annual Off the Vine Vintage Wine Auction. "Off the Vine" was created for those who enjoy collecting rare or reserve wines, and for those who simply enjoy a festive evening with friends to support a worthwhile cause. The event began with tantalizing wine and food pairings created by award-winning chef Lee Hilson while guests browsed wine-related silent auction items. The evening culminated with a live auction of rare and reserve wines, as well as private culinary and vineyard experiences. -
ICAN Golf Tournament
Amateur golfers hit the links in Scottsdale, Arizona to raise funds for the International Cancer Advocacy Network (ICAN). Once again this year, ICAN’s fundraiser is among the Liberty Mutual Invitational tournaments which take place across the country. The 18-hole Liberty Mutual Invitational tournament at the McCormick Ranch Golf Club offers a scramble format where men and women golfers of all skill levels compete in teams. Members of the winning foursome received great prizes from Liberty Mutual and other corporate sponsors at a resort casual post-tournament party sponsored by Arizona Oncology at the course’s clubhouse. -
Fresh Start East Valley Dinner
Fresh Start Women’s Foundation held their 3rd Annual “A Night of Heroes” event at the Hilton Phoenix East/Mesa in Mesa. The event featured a silent auction, dinner, live auction and presentation of the 2011 Man and Woman of the Year. This year’s honorees were Dr. Edgar Hernandez of the Halsted Clinic and Breast Center and City of Mesa Councilwoman Dina Higgins. The event was emceed by Lisa Love, Athletic Director for Arizona State University. The event was attended by over 300 people, including elected officials from Mesa, Chandler, Tempe and Gilbert. -

The 1st Breath of Life Grand Prix for Cystic Fibrosis was held at F1 Race Factory Oct 22. Co-Chairs Jennifer Kaplan and Mark Stratz put on a fun night for all with Kart and Segway Racing! -
